Combustion of poultry litter and mixture of poultry litter with woodchips in a fixed bed lab-scale batch reactor

چکیده

Experiments have been conducted in a batch fixed bed lab-scale reactor to investigate the combustion behaviour of three different biomass fuels, poultry litter (PL), blend PL with wood chips (PL/WC) and softwood pellets (SP). Analysis data gathered after completion test runs, provided useful insights about thermal decomposition formation N gaseous species, release ash forming elements estimation aerosol emissions. It was observed that species are mainly produced during devolatilisation phase. Hydrogen cyanide (HCN) predominant compound case SP combustion, whereas ammonia (NH3) displayed highest concentration (PL/WC). With reference elements, rates potassium (K) sodium (Na) range between 15–50% 20–37% respectively, rate sulphur (S) falls 54–92%. Chlorine (Cl) presents very high for all tested fuels acquiring values greater than 85%, showing volatile nature specific compound. The maximum potential emissions estimated based on calculation elements. In particular, were observed, 2806 mg/Nm3 (dry flue gas, 13 vol% O2), influenced by K gas Fuel indexes pre-evaluation related challenges such as NOx emissions, aerosols formation, corrosion risk, melting also investigated.

Emissions modeling of fluidised bed co-combustion of poultry litter and peat.

Gaseous emissions from the fluidised bed co-combustion of 50% w/w chicken litter and peat were monitored and recorded. Emission data were used to create a dispersion model for a proposed site on a poultry farm in Ireland. Variables within the combustion unit influenced both combustion and emission levels of pollutants such as SO(2) and NO(x), CO. Concentrations of atmospheric pollutants decreas...

Feeding Poultry Litter to Ruminants

Experiments were conducted to assess the feasibility of recycling poultry litter in the diets of young calves. Weaning rations containing 30% ensiled or unprocessed poultry litter gave unsatisfactory growth when fed to calves from two to twelve weeks of age. However, when these twelve week old calves were fed rations containing 30% or 50% poultry litter and sorghum, the costs/kg. gain were 19.5...

Arsenic speciation and reactivity in poultry litter.

Recent U.S. government action to lower the maximum concentration levels (MCL) of total arsenic (As) (10 ppb) in drinking water has raised serious concerns about the agricultural use of As-containing biosolids such as poultry litter (PL). In this study, solid-state chemical speciation, desorbability, and total levels of As in PL and long-term amended soils were investigated using novel synchrotr...

Degradation of Roxarsone in Poultry Litter

Roxarsone (fig. 1), 3-nitro-4-hydroxyphenylarsonic acid, is an arsenic-containing feed additive that is used extensively in the broiler poultry industry to promote growth by controlling coccidial intestinal parasites. Most of the roxarsone is excreted unchanged (Morrison, 1969; Gregory, 1993) in the manure to accumulate in the poultry bedding. Each broiler excretes about 150 milligrams (mg) of ...
